Hi! This is a test newsletter to my Japan Blog group subscribers and the 4 other nice folks who clicked “subscribe” here on Substack!

I wrote a post a few minutes ago on the app and saved it as a draft and now I can’t even find it! Fun! Easy! The app looks different on both my iPhone and iPad and even has a crazy amount of better more interesting features on the website. Isn’t that so fun? I guess this is what is expected now in these times but I find it so incredibly insane that there is seemingly no explanation of these differences anywhere on the app.

What am I doing?

So if you are getting this, it’s mostly because you are on my Japan Blog email list from eons ago and, yes! we are going to Japan again on December 8th! Exciting! As you may recall, I have tried some different methods: regular emails, the Day One journalling app, but now I am trying this! Because I am a sucker.

I can’t figure out how to caption this photo even though I did it before. So, I am going to make it a footnote. You’ll figure it out.

I’ve just tried to add more footnotes and it looks like I can’t. I find this restrictive. I was going to add one to explain my excessive use of exclamation points in case there are some writers here [i.e. Michel Basillieres] who are like “for the love of…”. I get it, but the excessive use is actually speaking to 2 things: 1) my need to be part of the younger generations after mine who are great and resilient and are less inhibited about breaking “rules”. 2) A way to display my need to be falsely cheerful while doing a new thing that I might regret later.
